Our Philosophy:

For Seasons Ecological Design Since 1996

Inspired by environmentally sensitive design principles, we create beautiful, functional, and ecologically sound landscapes appropriate for our New England climate.

Our plant selection celebrates the unique qualities of each season, and each plant is chosen both for beauty and minimal maintenance.

Throughout, we strive to balance human needs with the ecology of the land.

Ecology is the governing criterion

Landscapes evolve over time. They are part of a larger ecosystem, integrally connected to the elements and forces of nature. We believe successful landscapes are those that harmoniously combine human needs with natural conditions, and we welcome the opportunity to solve problems creatively and aesthetically.

We choose plants carefully

Native plants reflect our regional uniqueness. These plants adapt well to the existing climate and soil conditions, providing food and shelter for birds, attracting butterflies, and adding brilliant seasonal interest and we use them whenever possible. We avoid overused, invasive, and problematic plants, some of which are prone to disappointing – and often devastating – disease. By designing responsibly and “For the Seasons,” we maximize the beauty each season brings and embrace the changes that define New England.

We seek to emulate nature

We emulate nature by planting in patterns. In the wild vegetation occurs in layers. First, groundcovers carpet the earth. Then, taller herbaceous material yields to flowering shrubs. Finally, beneath the towering canopy, under story trees capitalize on limited sunlight and space -- these are the early-season bloomers that define Spring. Recreating these conditions in even a small part of a site provides habitat for wildlife and enhances the overall health of the environment. The result? Enduring beauty and serenity.
